Addiction

Yes, Nick and I have an addiction and it’s called Olive Garden.  Is there really a better way to spend your night?  This is the best restaurant out there…according to two of us!  It has come to the point where our families don’t even bother asking where we would like to go for dinner because they already know.

I can’t fathom how much money was spent on our weekly visits to Olive Garden that year before Nick left on his mission …because it wasn’t until he got home we realized we could order a lunch portion or even split a meal to save money.  Typical!  Nonetheless, every Friday night we were there ordering the same thing every time—Fettuccini Alfredo, breadsticks and salad! Predictable was our middle name, and it still is.  Now, whenever we go to Olive Garden we always bicker over who gets to order first since our orders are exactly the same the waiters find it rather amusing.

I will never forget the overwhelming feeling I had the first time he said it.

I remember that summer night like it was yesterday.  The weeks that led up to it he would often text me things that so carefully hinted  his desire to say it.  We would write poems back and forth about how we felt; his were always amazing, mine mediocre. I admired him for it.  In many of his poems he would say the actual words, but me?  Well, I’d never said them to
anyone besides my close friends and family.  I thought that was farther off in my future.  But—as usual—I thought wrong.  I guess life sometimes arrives sooner than you expect.  Though, in this case I’m quite alright with that.  I’ll admit I was a little nervous.  He made me feel so amazing that I was afraid saying those three words would only end in disaster and heartache—still, I longed for them.  I longed to hear those words, to physically hear them, and not just read them
It was rather late one night and we were up talking on the phone.  He soon realized I was drifting off and it was--unfortunately--time to hang up and get some rest.   He whispered “Goodnight” after which was a long pause.  I was wide awake now.  My heart fluttered.  I’d never wanted to hear something more than I wanted to hear those words at that moment.  I waited.  Then I softly heard the gentle words I’ll never forget.  “I love you.”

Eggs Anyone?

For those of you who want a funny story:

It's a beautiful evening and I am sitting in Nick's kitchen.  It's time for us (well...Nick) to bake some chocolate chip cookies in this home and mmm baby the dough is looking quite delicious!  It's just the two of us talking and laughing; having a great time. Nick picks up a delicate white egg then turns to me and says "you know an egg will never break no matter how hard you squeeze it?"  I look at him with my big, doubtful eyes, thinking to myself there's no way

If there's one thing you need to know about Nick it's that he is a tease, so of course he is gripping that egg like it's the edge of a cliff he's about to fall off of.  I mean EVERY vein in his arm is tense and his muscles are bulging (quite attractively might I add).  I sit there laughing, knowing that he's faking it, except--as I soon come to realize--he's not faking.

Before I even had time to blink I hear a loud crack and all I can feel is wet, raw egg all over my hair, my face, my clothes, and--of course--in my mouth!!!  No, that can't be raw egg in my mouth!!  My first reaction is to bend over and spit the lovely stuff out onto his counter....embarrassing, yes...but not as embarrassing as it was for him to splatter an egg all over his new girlfriend and the kitchen; not to mention, he managed to keep himself completely egg free!  We sat there in complete shock for a minute before the laughter burst from the both of us!  Nick quickly grabs a towel and comes straight to me to wipe it up; he doesn't notice or care that it's all over the kitchen walls and floor.  In other words, I'm wiping it up off the floor while he's picking it out of my hair, and both of us are hysterical with laughter.  We were a lovely sight.

I guess Nick is a lot stronger than he thought!  Eggs will break if you squeeze them f.y.i.  I think he will remember that from now on!  I know I will; to this day he continues to get teased about it! From now on, I'll crack the eggs babe.

Ready...Set...Go!

HOLA!

We're Nick & Micadyn. Thanks for visiting our blog page. Micadyn is writing this first post just so you know whose point of view this is coming from. The past three years of our lives have been full of adventures. About three years ago at a typical High School baseball game we met each other for the first time. I remember it was a chilly spring day and I was sitting there on the bleachers by myself, not knowing who to talk to, when Nick so kindly offered me a seat next to him and shared his blanket with me. We started talking, and it was like we were already best friends.

This is Nick writing now... Micadyn's kind of tired tonight and is falling asleep so I'll continue the story. ;) So ever since that game, Micadyn and I have always gotten along so well. This event is important to us because it was the first time we ever had an actual conversation. I mean, we knew each other before from school and stuff, but this is where we really clicked and started to get to know each other. Well spring flew by and summer came. So we all went our separate ways for the summer. My friend Bronson and I kind of disappeared from everyone else that summer because we were busy with work, and if we weren't working, we were wakeboarding. It wasn't until August of that summer when I saw Micadyn again at Bear Lake during Raspberry days. We hung out while we were up there for a little while and had a great time. It was a good trip to end the summer off. School then started a couple weeks later. So it was my senior year and Micadyn's junior year. We ended up going on a few dates and hung out a couple times and then we had the opportunity to go to homecoming together. That dance was a great time! I remember it like it was yesterday. That's when I truly fell head over heels for Micadyn. That night we had our very first kiss. :) After that dance I’m not sure what happened, but we didn't hang out or date too much after that until that December around Christmas time.

Micadyn: I will never forget that Christmas. Nick--being the amazing guy he is--took me on the one date every Utah girl dreams of during the holiday season: to see the Temple Square lights. Just think about it, cup of hot cocoa in my left hand, Nick's hand in my right, warm coats, and dazzling Christmas lights enveloping the Temple I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl. Perfect date? Wait…there’s more, it wouldn’t be a perfect date without the perfect kiss to end the night, right? You better believe it. He drives me home in his perfect car (the one I totaled last month…but that is a whole other story), walks me to my doorstep, and leans in for the kiss I’ll never forget. Our second kiss. Perfect date? I think you know the answer to that.
